Kentucky football season is almost here. Tomorrow the team will gather for a team picture before they are peppered with questions at UK Football Media Day. The popping of pads will soon follow. One guy who is never too shy to lower his shoulder is No. 32 Trevin Wallace.

About Wallace

Wallace is a 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker from Wayne County, Georgia. Initially committed to Auburn, the top 50 prospect became a late addition to the Wildcats’ 2021 recruiting class when boosters ousted Gus Malzahn just before signing day. As soon as Wallace arrived on campus, he made an impact.

As a true freshman Wallace recorded 32 tackles, 4.0 for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week after tallying 12 tackles, and 2.0 for loss, against Mississippi State. After the season he was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Trevin Wallace Fun Fact

Before Larry Munson uttered the famous words, “Man, is there going to be some property damage tonight,” at the 1980 Cocktail Party, “Run Lindsay!” sent shockwaves throughout the state of Georgia. Lindsay Scott’s 92-yard touchdown knocked off Florida and paved the way for Georgia to win the National Championship.

What does Lindsay Scott have to do with Trevin Wallace? The Kentucky linebacker attended the same high school as the Georgia wide receiver and broke his 40+ year-old track records. Yes, a linebacker broke a Georgia great’s sprinting records.

Trevin Wallace Career Highlight

Similar to Lindsay Scott, Trevin Wallace has already cemented a spot in UK football lore. He recovered Josh Paschal‘s blocked field goal for a touchdown, reversing momentum to propel Kentucky to a win over Florida at Kroger Field.

2022 Forecast

Typically those early accolades would push a player into a starting role in year two. That’s not the case for Wallace, thanks to DeAndre Square and Jacquez Jones. The Super Seniors will hold down the fort with the first team, but they can’t take all of the reps. A physically demanding position, Brad White will rotate Trevin Wallace into the action early and often to help the older guys stay healthy throughout the 2022 season. Even though he will not be a starter, don’t be surprised to see the true sophomore among the Cats’ top tacklers in 2022. A star in the making, Wallace has a bright future in Lexington.
