A Kentucky hat will be on the final table at a few different schools when players announce decisions during the Early Signing Period that begins this Wednesday. The latest may come as a surprise. Four-star defensive back Jyaire Hill trimmed his list to five and the Wildcats made the cut.

It’s down to Kentucky, Florida, Illinois, Purdue and Missouri for Jyaire Hill. The four-star cornerback will announce his decision at 3 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Two things are surprising about this final five. Kentucky made the cut even though they did not enter into Hill’s recruitment with a scholarship offer on Nov. 28. What’s even more remarkable? Michigan is not a finalist.

If you scan across every major recruiting platform, there are at least two predictions for Hill to Michigan. All of the industry’s top analysts have essentially made Hill a shoe-in for the Wolverines. Even Steve Wiltfong placed a Michigan prediction Sunday afternoon, and yet their hat will not be on the final table. It’s truly shocking.

Hill is a 6-foot-2 cornerback from Kankakee, IL, a suburb about an hour south of Chicago. He’s the No. 112 player overall in the On300 and the 15th-ranked cornerback. According to the On3 Consensus the four-star prospect is the nation’s No. 25 cornerback and No. 197 player overall.

New running backs and special teams coach Jay Boulware has been doing some heavy lifting on the recruiting trail since Mark Stoops added him to the staff. Chicago was one of the recruiting pitstops he shared from the road, not far from Jyaire Hill.

Maybe Jay Boulware has a few tricks up his sleeve for his first Early Signing Period at Kentucky? Maybe Jyaire Hill is trolling the hell out of Michigan fans? The recruiting theatrics are in full force as we inch closer and closer to signing day.
