Kentucky's offense is growing more confident with each week

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops keeps telling anyone that will listen that his football team is getting better. That was hard to believe through the first six weeks of the college football season. However, things started to change after UK’s final bye week. Over the last three games, we’ve seen the offense provide some tangible proof of improvement.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Cutter Boley has gotten more comfortable, the coaching staff made some tweaks to the scheme as the Cats have gone more pass-heavy, the offensive line has continued to be solid, and some wide receivers are now starting to emerge.
The program broke its long two offensive touchdowns or less streak, gave the team a real chance to win against Texas, and executed a complementary football game plan against Auburn. There have been some rocky moments and growing pains but the program does feel like they are slowing getting better.
“I feel every week since after South Carolina there’s been some improvement. That’s just my gut. I think these players have been a group that’s gone to work,” Kentucky offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan told KSR on Tuesday. “Whether the big time results, the big points come, we’ll see. We’re working towards it, obviously. Putting ourselves in the best position to win games.”

“I do feel each week there’s been a more confident group at all levels. A more comfortable group.”
That all starts with the quarterback. Boley has given the offense life and has helped ignite a passing game that has lived in the basement of the SEC for many years during the Stoops era. Some younger players have taken advantage of some playing time at wide receiver and Kendrick Law is becoming a go-to guy. This has all occurred as the Cats have had some struggles in the traditional run game. If they can get some of those issues ironed out, a big scoring performance could be on the horizon.
Kentucky had to pivot to a different plan in 2025 but their young quarterback has given them a much-needed spark. It has all led to an offense that is showing real improvement and has the arrow pointing up entering the last four games of the season.
The Wildcats will now look to prove that the recent three-game run has not been a fluke and that more strides will be made as this season comes to a close.
