Kentucky kept the momentum rolling by handing Tennessee Tech its first loss of the year. Cutter Boley was outstanding as Wildcats rushed for five touchdowns in a 42-10 victory, the Cats’ third straight. Kentucky is now just one win away from a bowl berth.

Boley was surgical in the pocket. On a windy day at Kroger Field, precision was no problem for the redshirt freshman. He completed 18-21 passes for 236 yards and a 45-yard touchdown, an absolute seed to Hardley Gilmore that split two defenders.

That wasn’t his most impressive play of the day. Boley scrambled, somehow got the corner, tiptoed down the sideline, then lowered his shoulder for a 30-yard touchdown run.

More Two-Minute Success

Kendrick Law saved the best game of his career for senior day. The wide receiver caught 11 passes for 124 yards, both career-highs. His most important play may have been on special teams.

Tennessee Tech scored a touchdown on fourth down to make it a 21-7 game with 1:18 on the clock before halftime. Law returned the ensuing kickoff 40 yards, then was hit late out of bounds to put the Cats in Tennessee Tech territory. On the next snap, he hurdled a defender for a gain of 18. Ja’Mori Maclin tagged on 20 yards on the following play, setting the stage for Seth McGowan‘s third rushing touchdown of the first half, giving Kentucky a comfortable 21-point halftime lead.

McGowan now has 12 rushing touchdowns this season, two away from tying Ray Davis with the fourth-most in a single season at Kentucky. He moved into a tie with Ahmad Hardy for the second-most rushing touchdowns in the SEC. McGowan had 72 yards on 17 carries, while Dante Dowdell chipped in 87 yards and a 19-yard touchdown run.

Dooley’s Impressive Debut

Cam Dooley has played quite a few snaps over his first two years at Kentucky, but today was the sophomore’s first opportunity to start at safety, taking the place of the injured Jordan Lovett. He did not look like a first-time starter. Dooley forced a fumble and made this diving interception to set the table for a Kentucky touchdown.

Tennessee Tech entered the game averaging an FCS-best 45 points per game. They only scored 10 at Kroger Field and were limited to 264 yards of offense, the third-straight game Kentucky has held its opponent to less than 300 yards.
