The Kentucky football program has offered the son of former NFL star Albert Haynesworth.

Aivery Haynesworth, an eighth grader at Brentwood Academy in Tennessee, announced Monday evening that he had received his first official scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky.

In response, the class of 2025 standout’s father noted it was “one of the proudest moments of (his) life.”

Kentucky’s trend of offering the sons of former NFL standouts is not a new one, as UK has previously offered the likes of Frank Gore Jr., Antonio Gates Jr. and Emmitt (EJ) Smith Jr., among others, in recent years.

This time around, they’re going after the son of a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro defensive tackle.

Haynesworth, who played in the NFL from 2002 to 2011 and made 347 career tackles, 30.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in the league, was a three-year letterman for the Tennessee Volunteers under Phillip Fulmer. Haynesworth was named second-team All-SEC in 2001 before being selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 15th overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft.

Will the Kentucky coaching staff be able to convince the son of a former Volunteer to wear blue as a Wildcat? Still four years away from the college ranks, they’ll certainly have the time to make it happen.
