Matt Ponatoski is not the only big Kentucky target announcing on Sunday

Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller quarterback Matt Ponatoski is ready to announce his college decision. Kentucky is the heavy favorite to land the blue-chip quarterback but he is not the only major target scheduled to come off the board to close out the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Kentucky’s top EDGE target will also make a decision. Camden (N.J.) Eastside rising senior Elijah Satchell will choose from finalists Kentucky, NC State, Northwestern, and Stanford. Each program hosted the three-star prospect for an official visit.

“The coaching staff is the biggest thing,” Satchell told KSR’s Jacob Polacheck. “I have no doubt that Coach [BradWhite, Coach [Nate] Fuqua, and Coach [Mark] Stoops are one of the best coaching staffs. The atmosphere I’m going to be in and the environment, scheme, and education, too.”

Kentucky hosted multiple EDGE visitors during the June recruiting blitz but blue chippers Asharri Charles (Miami) and Jackson Samuels-Ford (Penn State) have each come off the board. That leaves Satchell as the only EDGE target left. If UK fails to land a commitment, a reset of the recruiting board at the position will be needed.

The Cats enter the 2025 season with six scholarship EDGE players but Kent State transfer Kam Olds is entering his final year of eligibility. UK will need to address this position either through this high school class or in the portal. Failing to land Elijah Satchell could force the Cats to call and audible.

Matt Ponatoski’s commitment is vital for the program but Satchell is another key target for the Wildcats.
