The AP Poll isn’t as kind to Kentucky Football (8-3) this week as the Coaches Poll.

Earlier on Sunday, the AFCA Coaches Poll bumped Kentucky up one spot from the most receiving votes to No. 25 in the country. The ‘Cats took care of New Mexico State during Senior Day on Saturday to the tune of a 56-16 throttling. But the other national poll wasn’t as impressed with UK’s 40-point win.

The AP Poll did bump Kentucky up four spots to No. 30, but not far enough to break back into the Top 25. UK is receiving the fifth-most votes with 10. The AP Poll had Kentucky receiving the eighth-most votes last week.

Kentucky made it as high as No. 11 in the AP Poll this season following a 6-0 start to the year. UK was on fire following two massive victories over Florida and LSU the led to a 6-0 start, but the team quickly came back down to earth after the bye week. The ‘Cats went on to lose three straight, but have since won two in a row to get back on track.

If UK can manage to beat in-state rival Louisville next weekend, there’s a great chance Kentucky finishes the 2021 regular season nationally ranked in both major polls with a record of 9-3.
