Here’s a sentence I never thought I would write: Vanderbilt Football has captivated the Music City. Nashville has embraced Diego Pavia and the plucky Commodores. The SEC cellar dwellers are now CFP contenders.

A year ago, Nick Saban served up an unforgettable helping of bulletin board material. The former Alabama head coach threw some serious shade at Vanderbilt on last year’s Pat McAfee Show before the Crimson Tide came to town.

“The only place you’re going to play in the SEC that’s not hard to play, Vanderbilt,” said Saban. “When you play at Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have, and that’s no disrespect to them, it’s the truth. When we played in Nashville, we had more fans, Alabama fans, than what they had Vanderbilt fans.”

Well, it was hard to play on that Saturday for Alabama, who was upset by Vanderbilt in the program’s first-ever win over the No. 1 team in the country.

That win served as a turning point for the program. Vanderbilt no longer only sells out its stadium when Alabama and LSU come to town. Vandy fans are packing FirstBank Stadium on Saturday, giving Diego Pavia a sold-out crowd for his Senior Day.

The contest against Kentucky is not a first. Vanderbilt has sold out all six home games this fall at the newly renovated FirstBank Stadium. A part of the campus-wide $300 million capital campaign upgrades, luxury suites were added, and the end zones were significantly upgraded to enhance the in-game experience.

Even though the tickets are technically sold out for Saturday’s contest between the Cats and the Commodores, you can still make the quick trip to Nashville to see if Kentucky can spoil Pavia’s big moment. With our partners at Gametime, you can get inside the stadium for around $60. First-time users can save $20 with promo code “On3.” Terms apply.

We’ll see you in Nashville.
