Kentucky Football Countdown: No. 9 Tayvion Robinson

We are now only nine days away from the start of the Kentucky football season. Can you believe it? Today let’s take a closer look at Wildcat wide receiver No. 9 Tayvion Robinson.
About Tayvion Robinson
A talented slot receiver from Virginia Beach, Tayvion Robinson transferred to Kentucky this spring after three seasons at Virginia Tech. He started in 30 of his 36 career games and caught 113 passes for 1,555 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. Robinson was a PFF Freshman All-American in 2020. Last fall he was a Third Team All-ACC selection as a return specialist after leading the conference in punt return yards (12.62 per return) and returning one kick to the house.
That Time Tayvion Robinson Played Kentucky
Tayvion Robinson once shared a field with the Wildcats. He finished his true freshman season facing off against Kentucky in the 2019 Belk Bowl. Robinson caught a couple of passes for 18 yards. One reception led him directly into Yusuf Corker‘s shoulder. Before the action kicked off on New Year’s Eve, he was not on the field for the shenanigans between the Hokies and Lynn Bowden, but he remembers them well.

“I was in the middle of the locker room and I saw it on TV,” Tayvion Robinson told KSR. “I’m watching it and I’m like, ‘Oh, that is right out there, not even 100 feet away.’ Half the people ran out of the locker room and the coaches tried to make us stay in. That was crazy.”
2022 Forecast
You cannot replace Wan’Dale Robinson with one player. However, this Mr. Robinson will carry a significant amount of the weight for the talented, albeit young, UK wide receivers room. His role will mirror his record-breaking predecessor, just without as many targets. Even though Will Levis will not solely rely on Robinson in Kentucky’s passing attack, the Virginia Tech transfer is the clear-cut favorite to lead Kentucky in receptions in 2022. An agile athlete with the ball in his hands, No. 9 will be one of the BBN’s favorite players this fall.
