Kentucky football's Tyler Beisner creates non-profit to assist with local youth sports

A very familiar name to the KSR world is doing his part to help during the offseason and beyond.

Today, Kentucky wide receiver Tyler Beisner – son of TJ Beisner, the editor of CoachCal.com and former managing editor of KSR – announced he would be creating a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for youth sports.

The organization, Go For It, will raise money in the community and use the funds to pay for youth sports registration fees for families in need.

“In 2011, [former NFL star] Dexter McCluster hosted a free camp, which is where I played football for the first time,” Beisner said in the announcement. “I fell in love and it changed my life. I’m hoping to give those same blessings to kids in Lexington through a non-profit I’ve created called “Go For It”

“Go For It will raise money in the community and then use 100% of the funds to pay youth sports registration fees for families who need assistance (non-prospect, grades K-8).”

According to the official website – GoForItKY.org – all donations will go toward covering the sports registration fees for a child in Fayette County who might not otherwise be able to participate in youth sports with their classmates.

“We hope to help ease the financial burden of youth sports registration fees for families in Fayette County, Kentucky,” the mission statement on the website reads. “Through generous contributions of friends and neighbors in our community, local children (non-prospects, grades K-8) will have the opportunity to participate with their classmates in youth sports.”

“Don’t really know what to say except we’re very proud and hope this helps every single child who needs it,” TJ Beisner said in response to his son’s announcement. “And thank you [Courtney Love], [Freddie Maggard], [Jason Cummins] and UK football for 2 years of preaching service, leadership and selflessness. It makes an impact.”
