Kentucky freshman WR Preston Bowman planning to enter transfer portal
Another Kentucky player is headed elsewhere to play college football.
According to Rivals’ Greg Smith, freshman wide receiver Preston Bowman intends to put his name in the transfer portal. A 5-foot-11 pass-catcher out of Pickerington, OH, Bowman did not play a single snap during his true freshman season with Kentucky in 2025, meaning he’ll have four years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
He was recruited to UK by former associate head coach Vince Marrow, who is now at Louisville. A three-star recruit, Bowman was considered the No. 603 overall prospect in the 2025 class by the Rivals Industry Ranking. A late-riser in the high school ranks, he chose Kentucky over offers from Ohio State and Michigan, but just couldn’t get onto the field for Mark Stoops‘ squad.

Bowman’s decision to transfer won’t come as much of a shock, considering his lack of production this past season and the head coaching change that now has Will Stein running the program. Bowman held additional offers as a high schooler from Louisville and several G5 schools — look for him to find a new home at one of those spots.
