Kentucky won its first exhibition in thrilling fashion, beating No. 1 Purdue by 13. Are we in for a repeat performance tonight? KSR’s LIVE BLOG will bring you all the sights and sounds from Rupp Arena as the Cats host the Georgetown Hoyas (7 p.m. ET, SEC Network+).

Ed Cooley is in his third season at Georgetown. The Hoyas went 17-15 last season, finishing seventh in the Big East. The Hoyas beat George Washington 73-64 in their first exhibition, with sophomore forward Caleb Williams leading the way with 20 points and six rebounds, followed by junior guard Malik Mack with 16 points. On Kentucky’s end, the Cats are expected to be without Jaland Lowe, who continues to work his way back from a minor shoulder injury, and Jayden Quaintance, who is still rehabbing from ACL surgery.

This will be just the third meeting between Kentucky and Georgetown, the first taking place in 1922 and the second in the 1984 Final Four. Georgetown won both games, beating the Cats 53-40 in the latter en route to the national championship. Forty-one years later, it’s time to get some revenge.

FINAL: Georgetown 84, Kentucky 70

10/30/2025 08:06:57 PM

Belt to ass for the Wildcats. Minor setback for major comeback. We’ll see you in the BBN United Tipoff Classic, presented by Kentucky Tourism. Time to cut down those nets.

Fans have hit the exits and it’s over

10/30/2025 08:01:13 PM

The fat lady has sung, folks. Fans are making their way to their cars as Kentucky is going to lose its first exhibition game since the 2014-15 season.

Is that a sign? I’m gonna call it a sign. Cats are going undefeated.

Kentucky has the same number of turnovers as assists

10/30/2025 07:56:37 PM

Want to know the impact of two primary ball handlers sitting out? 13 turnovers compared to 13 assists on 19 made shots, shooting just 35.2 percent from the field. Not good!

Mark Pope is all of us right now…

Kentucky is one of its last 10 FG, Georgetown with four straight

10/30/2025 07:49:03 PM

It’s getting uglier before it’s getting prettier. Kentucky hasn’t made a shot in the last 3:25 while Georgetown has now made four straight buckets. It may be time to wave the white flag here at Rupp with the Hoya lead stretching and the clock shrinking.

Tough and-one for Georgetown kills the momentum

10/30/2025 07:44:02 PM

Kentucky is in do-or-die territory, and it felt like a run was coming to potentially keep the Cats breathing, but Vince Iwuchukwu just finished a tough and-one on Collin Chandler to push it back to 13 points with 7:56 to go.

They’re treading water trying not to drown right now. Plenty of time to make a comeback, but it’s gonna take a big-time effort down the stretch that we haven’t seen up to this point.

Rupp Arena wants to get back into it…

10/30/2025 07:39:50 PM

Down 11 with 8:58 to go, the Rupp Arena crowd is getting into it hoping to flip the momentum. Will it be enough to get Kentucky on a run? Single digits could certainly make things interesting here in the next couple of possessions.

How many missed free throws? There is no limit.

10/30/2025 07:35:18 PM

Kentucky has now missed ten free throws out of 22 total attempts. Seven different players have missed at least one free throw. Those points would be useful right about now down 13 points.

Georgetown 61, Kentucky 46 (11:09)

10/30/2025 07:32:48 PM

Zero points in the last 3:06 for the Cats and zero field goals in the last 4:26. Just a whole lot of nothing going right at Rupp Arena.

It’s not looking like our night, folks.

There is a fan in an ice cream cone costume

10/30/2025 07:18:48 PM

Wanna know how good the Rupp Arena ice cream is? A young fan is dressing up as a cone for Halloween.

She’s seeing a spooky performance from her Wildcats, unfortunately.

UPDATE: Defense is NOT better

10/30/2025 07:15:10 PM

Georgetown entered halftime shooting 56.3 percent from the field. It is now shooting 59.5 percent from the field with three straight makes in the opening segment of the second. Not good! KJ Lewis is in takeover mode right now, up to 11 points.

Collin Chandler got a breakaway dunk to shift some momentum, so maybe that’s all Rupp Arena needed to flip the game? Crowd is getting back into it, so it’s possible.

Cats have to turn things around quickly.

We’re back — hopefully with better defense in the second half

10/30/2025 07:07:22 PM

The numbers were not pretty at the break, Kentucky allowing Georgetown to convert 66.7 percent of its twos (16-24). Lots to clean up with 20 minutes to go.

HALF: Georgetown 46, Kentucky 39

10/30/2025 06:49:41 PM

Is this the part when we remind ourselves that this is just an exhibition? Georgetown leads Kentucky 46-39 at halftime, with a 24-12 advantage in the paint. The Cats clearly miss having one of their top two point guards, but Georgetown’s physical play is bothering them, too.

Better second half, please.

Collin Chandler brings the lead back to single digits

10/30/2025 06:47:49 PM

Georgetown led by 10, 46-36, until a deep Collin Chandler three brought it back to single digits. Georgetown will have the ball with 27.9 seconds to go in the half.

Score Update: Georgetown 40, Kentucky 32 – 3:34 1H

10/30/2025 06:39:18 PM

Turns out you really do need your top two point guards. It’s still sloppy going at Rupp Arena, with Kentucky looking rough on both ends of the court. There have been some good moments — Jasper Johnson’s slicing spin move, Malachi Moreno’s ‘NO NO NO — YES!’ three-pointer, but this doesn’t look at all like the Kentucky team we saw vs. Purdue. The Hoyas are making 59% of their shots with 22 points in the paint to Kentucky’s 12.

Otega Oweh breaks Kentucky’s scoring drought

10/30/2025 06:26:41 PM

When you need a bucket, go to Otega Oweh. The Preseason SEC Player of the Year just broke a three-minute scoring drought with a ridiculous “How did that go in” bucket that we saw a million times last season. Unfortunately, Georgetown keeps punching back, with Malik Mack scoring to keep the Hoyas up four with 7:55 to go in the half. Georgetown is shooting a sizzling 58% from the field so far.

Georgetown 25, Kentucky 21 – 7:55 1H

Score Update: Georgetown 21, Kentucky 19 – 9:38 1H

10/30/2025 06:22:42 PM

This is one sloppy game so far. Jasper Johnson hit a three to put the Cats up 19-16, but Georgetown responded with back-to-back buckets to take the lead. Kentucky is shooting only 36.8% from the floor, 30.8% (4-13) from three-point range.

Andrija Jelavic and one!

10/30/2025 06:16:11 PM

It didn’t take long for Andrija Jelavic to shine. Jelavic just fought through the lane for an and-one to put Kentucky up by three. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the free throw and Georgetown hit a bucket on the other end to narrow Kentucky’s lead to one, 16-15.

Mo Dioubate three gives Kentucky the lead

10/30/2025 06:14:11 PM

Scratch “Mo Dioubate three” off your BINGO card. He just hit one to give Kentucky a 14-13 lead. Collin Chandler’s back in the game too and showed some great hustle getting an offensive rebound after a Jasper Johnson miss. Andrija Jelavic just checked in as well.

Score Update: Georgetown 12, Kentucky 11 – 15:50 1H

10/30/2025 06:08:32 PM

We’ve got a close one so far at Rupp. Georgetown leads by one at the first media timeout, but that soon could be two as Vincent Iwuchukwu heads to the free-throw line after a foul on Kam Williams. Williams was the first sub off the bench.

So far, Otega Oweh leads the way with five points, followed by Brandon Garrison with three. Both have hit three-pointers. It looks like Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno just checked in, so let’s see what the freshmen can do.

Pope confirms Denzel Aberdeen is out

10/30/2025 05:30:10 PM

It’s official: Denzel Aberdeen will not play. Mark Pope confirmed the news during his conversation with Tom Leach.

“He’s just nursing a little leg deal that I don’t think is going to be an issue, but we’ll keep him out as a precaution.”

Pope said that Collin Chandler will start at point guard, one of four returning players in the starting lineup. So, Chandler, Otega Oweh, Brandon Garrison, and Mo Dioubate?

Denzel Aberdeen is OUT, per sources

10/30/2025 05:23:47 PM

KSR’s Jack Pilgrim has learned that Denzel Aberdeen will NOT play tonight due to a minor leg injury. We’ve been assured it’s nothing serious and that Aberdeen is simply being held out as a precaution — it is an exhibition, after all. I’m sure that won’t stop fans from panicking.

With Aberdeen and Jaland Lowe out, get ready to see more Collin Chandler and Jasper Johnson at point guard. Hopefully, both Aberdeen and Lowe are ready to roll next week when the games start to count.

Denzel Aberdeen’s status remains uncertain

10/30/2025 04:43:53 PM

Those who attended yesterday’s Media Family Day practice noticed that Denzel Aberdeen was a limited participant. Aberdeen’s status for tonight’s game remains uncertain. The guard is warming up with his teammates, but wearing warm-up pants instead of his uniform. We’re efforting confirmation on whether or not he’ll play, and what the ailment or illness may be. Until then, keep refreshing.
