"Morgan Newton didn't bring it today." That's what the ESPN commentator had to say about Kentucky's offense as the game came to a close. That's being kind. Newton made a surprise start in place of the injured Max Smith today and his atrocious outing reassured everyone why Smith won the job to start the season. Newton threw three interceptions on 8-of-20 passing for 60 yards in three quarters under center. For those of you keeping score at home, that's a 2.77 passer rating for the game, including a -49.9 rating in the second quarter. Freshman quarterback Jalen Whitlow took over in the fourth when things were already out of hand. While you can say the disappointment from Morgan Newton is the story of the game, it should also be noted that Kentucky completely gave up in the second half. Bad games happen, but giving up is unacceptable. Nick will be by with more from the game in just a bit. Discuss.
