Some unfortunate injury news came from the Kentucky women’s basketball program on Thursday regarding Dominika Paurová, who missed all of last year following an ACL tear in the offseason.

Per UK release, Paurová will be ruled out for this upcoming season as well after recently suffering a lower leg injury. It marks her second consecutive season she’ll be spending on the sidelines due to injury.

“University of Kentucky women’s basketball redshirt sophomore guard Dominika Paurová tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and is out indefinitely,” the team said.

In her previous stop at Oregon State, Paurová played a key role in getting the Beavers to the Elite Eight in 2024, where they fell to 1-seed South Carolina, who finished that year 38-0. That season, Paurová averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while making 37.2% of her shots from deep.

The 6-foot-1 guard was set to be a key part of Kentucky’s lineup. While she may not have started this season, she would have certainly played a key role off the bench with her defensive versatility and ability to shoot from three-point range at an efficient clip.

It went unnoticed for the most part, but Paurová did not participate in Big Blue Madness on Saturday, and that may be why. With her shooting ability, you could’ve figured she would have had a spot in the three-point contest.

Kentucky’s depth in the backcourt took a hit with Paurová going down, but thankfully, players like Lexi Blue, Josie Gilvin, Kaelyn Carroll and Amelia Hassett can step up in her place out on the perimeter.

Above all else, this is just really, really unfortunate news for Paurová personally. Yes, it sucks to not have her again this season, but the road to recovery is going to be long, painful and emotionally-taxing process. Coming back from one lower leg injury is hard enough, but to do it again will be even harder.

Big Blue Nation is behind you, Dom.
