New Kentucky guard Jaland Lowe has made it to campus: "Let's go for number nine"

The newest Wildcats are making their way to Lexington this week.
Shortly after Florida transfer Denzel Aberdeen announced Wednesday afternoon that he arrived on UK’s campus, the Kentucky men’s basketball social media team revealed that Pitt transfer Jaland Lowe is also in Lexington. Those two join Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance, who made his way to campus a couple of weeks ago, as the first few Wildcats in town for upcoming summer workouts.
“What’s up BBN, Jaland Lowe here,” Lowe said in a video outside the Wildcat Coal Lodge next to assistant coaches Mark Fox, Mikhail McLean, and Alvin Brooks. “Getting ready to settle into my new home here in Lexington. Really excited. Let’s go for number nine.”
More Wildcats are expected to trickle in throughout the rest of the week. The real fun is about to start.
Lowe spent his first two college seasons at Pitt before transferring to Kentucky. The 6-foot-2 point guard averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 35.4 minutes per outing as a sophomore for the Panthers in 2024-25. He made the All-ACC Third-Team as a result. ESPN recently ranked Lowe, who went through the NBA Draft process before pulling his name from the pool, as the 25th-best player to hit the portal this offseason.

“I’m excited to get (Lowe) here and hyper-speed his game,” Pope told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports in April. “We’re going to really unleash him and push him to play with as much pace as he possibly can… He’s just, he’s so athletic. He’s got such a herky-jerky nature to his game. He’s like an elite-level tailback that can cut, like his cuts could be a 270-degree on a dime cut, change direction.
“He proved to do everything at Pitt. He was an elite-level scorer. He’s incredible at getting to the free-throw line. He was almost six assists a game. He had a real presence on the ball, he’s almost a 3.0 turnover percentage guy (on defense). He’s got a complete package.”
Lowe figures to take over as Kentucky’s starting point guard for the 2025-26 season.
