Kentucky has One Future Wildcat in the Under Armour All-American Bowl

The New Year means new things for many people. For the high school recruiting industry, it’s showcase season at All-American games.
The Under Armour All-American Game and the Navy All-American Bowl are the final major opportunities to evaluate the most talented prep football players in America. Kentucky typically has a couple of future players in each game. There were three on the defensive line alone last year at the Under Armour game in Florida. You can’t say the same about the Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class.
Only one future Wildcat is participating in either of the two major showcase games. Mikkel Skinner, the top-ranked player in the 2025 recruiting class, will suit up for Team Unstoppable in the Under Armour Game.
There is just one player from the state of Kentucky playing in either prestigious event. Louisville Male IOL Spike Sowells, an NC State signee, will be in action for the East Team in the All-American Bowl.
This is not Skinner’s first postseason prep showcase. He caught a couple of passes in the 88th Annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. The future Kentucky tight end popped during practice. On3’s Charles Power ranked Skinner as one of the top performers.

“Mikkel Skinner is on the shortlist of the most physically impressive prospects at the Shrine Bowl. A well-built 6-foot-3.5, 220 pounds, Skinner is a jumbo wide receiver who could grow into a mismatch at tight end,” wrote Power.
“The Kentucky signee’s athleticism popped in practice, as he showed burst and the ability to create separation. The ball skills were also encouraging. The four-star prospect has the opportunity to develop into a versatile offensive weapon in Lexington.”
You can see Skinner in action later this week at DeLand’s Spec Martin Stadium. The All-American contest kicks off on ESPN at 4 pm EST on Thursday. Florida leads the way with seven future Gators on the UA game roster.
