Kentucky Hosts Ohio State Commit Sam Williams-Dixon

A verbal commitment is just that, a verbal agreement. Just because a talented recruit has pledged his allegiance to one school, even a perennial CFB Playoff team, it does not mean the Kentucky football coaching staff will go quietly into the night.

Sam Williams-Dixon, a Columbus native, has been committed to his hometown school of Ohio State since April 13. Today he’s in Lexington for an official visit, according to Rivals’ Justin Rowland.

Come on. A running back from Columbus is committed to Ohio State and he’s actually going to consider going elsewhere? Vince Marrow works magic in recruiting, but this miracle?

It may sound farfetched, but Kentucky has a legitimate shot to flip the three-star running back — the No. 25 ATH in the country according to On3 — for a variety of reasons.

First and foremost, the outside zone runner is one of three running backs committed to the Buckeyes’ in the 2024 recruiting class. Three is a crowd. Even though Sam Williams-Dixon is ranked as an ATH by On3, he’s a natural fit at outside zone, the scheme Liam Coen prefers to use at Kentucky, a place that does not currently have any running back commitments in 2024.

Secondly, Sam Williams-Dixon has always been a fan of what’s happening in Lexington. He camped with the Cats last summer and made a return trip this spring. He’s a big fan of Vince Marrow.

“I just love everybody there,” he told KSR+ in February. “Vince [Marrow] is a very nice guy… We get each other. He cares about me. He’s always checking up on me and we always chop it up and have a good time talking.”

While a flip may not be imminent, the Cats are on the prowl, beginning official visit season with a bang.

Kentucky gets Surprise Official Visit from Florida Wide Receiver

In addition to the other mid-week official visits, most notably Terhyon Nichols, a new name entered the mix on Monday. Both Rivals and 247 Sports are reporting that Shamar Rigby is officially visiting the Wildcats today.

A native of Lakewood, FL, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver is a three-star prospect. In addition to the trip to Lexington, Rigby has official visits scheduled later this month to Iowa State and Purdue. KSR will keep a close eye out for the talented athlete.
