Kentucky is a Finalist for 3-Star LB Devin Smith

In the middle of the summer peak for football recruiting, Kentucky received some more good news Monday morning. Georgia linebacker Devin Smith trimmed his list to five schools and the Cats made the cut.
Kentucky is in good company in Smith’s final five. Along with the Cats, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina and LSU are still in the hunt for Smith’s services.
Devin Smith is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from Brunswick, Ga. A high three-star talent, he’s the No. 499 player in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
Unlike many of his peers in the 2024 recruiting class, Devin Smith did not spend his summer taking official visits to prospective programs. Instead he went on an unofficial visit tour, stopping in Lexington, Tuscaloosa, Columbia and Auburn during the month of June.

It’s unclear exactly where the Wildcats fall in Smith’s pecking order, but the Cats do already have two linebacker commitments in the 2024 recruiting class. Antwan Smith is ranked as an EDGE, but the Atlanta metro prospect is projected to play inside linebacker at Kentucky. Over the weekend the Wildcats locked up a commitment from four-star linebacker Elijah Groves.
Like the other linebackers Kentucky has recruited, Devin Smith can play inside or on the EDGE. Despite missing some action last fall, he tallied 63 tackles, 10 for loss and six sacks. A physical presence, Kentucky will be in contention for a coveted prospect this fall on the recruiting trail.
