Kentucky is in good company as the Wildcats pursue on of the top tight ends in the country. Before he travels to Lexington this weekend for an official visit, Damarion Witten unveiled a list of his top five schools. As you might have guessed, the Cats made the cut.

Damarion Witten will choose between Texas, Oregon, Wisconsin, Ohio State and your University of Kentucky Wildcats.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, the 6-foot-2 pass-catcher plays for Glenville High School, a prominent recruiting pipeline for Ryan Day’s program. Coached by Ted Ginn Sr., despite the deep connections to the Buckeyes, Vince Marrow has put the Wildcats in an ideal position. Kentucky (June 9) and Ohio State (June 23) are the only two schools scheduled to receive official visits from Damarion Witten.

“The culture that the players and the coaches stands out to me,” Witten shared with On3’s Chad Simmons in May. “The coaches love the players, not just because they’re on the football team but because they’re there and they wanna bond with the players before they go on to the next level. That really, that really plays a big part of me when the coaches like, really interact with the players.”

A four-star prospect, the top 25 tight end is ranked as the No. 356 player overall in the On3 Industry Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

Damarion Witten is a dynamic weapon in space. Last fall he caught a 39-yard touchdown in the Division IV State Championship to help the Glenville Tarblooders cap off an undefeated 15-0 season with a title. Take a closer look at the exceptional athlete, and you’ll see why Vince Marrow is going all in against Ohio State.
