Kentucky is moving in the wrong direction in ESPN's Bracketology

As expected, Kentucky‘s loss at South Carolina came with implications in the NCAA Tournament picture. The Wildcats dropped one place in the NET Rankings with the Quad 1 loss, slipping from 18th to 19th after Tuesday’s result. Kentucky and Duke traded places in the NET.

In Wednesday’s Bracketology update, Joe Lunardi dropped Kentucky from a No. 3 seed to a No. 4, ranking Kentucky 13th overall in reaction to the loss. Lunardi had Kentucky ranked tenth 24 hours ago.

The SEC also lost a tournament team in the new update as Ole Miss fell out of the field. Lunardi moved Ole Miss outside the bubble as one of the First Four Out, slightly ahead of Florida in the Next Four Out. Lunardi has seven SEC teams dancing in his updated projection.

Kentucky down in CBS Sports’ Top 25 and 1

Over at CBSSports.com, Kentucky dropped nine spots to 19th in the Top 25 and 1. Ahead of the Wildcats, Tennessee is fourth and Auburn is seventh from the SEC. North Carolina is up to third.

Boosting Kentucky’s Resume

Kentucky’s loss to South Carolina was a Quad 1 loss on the resume, giving the Wildcats a losing record in Quad 1 games at 2-3. Looking ahead, Kentucky has six more Quad 1 opportunities as things stand now. The next two games are Quad 2s.
