Make that two outgoing transfers for the Kentucky football program on Tuesday. This time, it’s sophomore linebacker Jared Casey, a former four-star recruit out of Louisville.

Dave Lackford of Rivals.com was the first to report that Casey would enter the portal this week with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The former four-star prospect was the No. 301 overall prospect and No. 34 linebacker in the 2019 On3 Consensus. He was also the sixth-best player out of Kentucky in his class.

Originally committing to Oregon, Casey ultimately signed with Kentucky over the Ducks, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Louisville, Purdue, and Syracuse out of high school.

The 6-foot-3, 221-pound linebacker recorded eight total tackles and one QB hit in 12 games this season. It was a dip from the 20 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss Casey racked up in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2020. He recorded one tackle as a true freshman in 2019.

Casey is now the tenth player from Kentucky’s 2019 recruiting class to enter the portal, joining Travis Tisdale, MJ Devonshire, Shawnkel Knight-Goff, Nikolas Ognenovic, Cavon Butler, Tra Wilkins, Amani Gilmore, Nik Scalzo, and Jake Pope. Tisdale officially entered the portal earlier today.

Of that class, only JJ Weaver, Moses Douglass, KD McDaniel, Taj Dodson, Isaiah Gibson, Tae Tae Crumes, Marquez Bembry, Quandre Mosely, Jalen Geiger, DeMarcus Harris, and Eli Cox remain.

Best of luck to Casey as he takes the next step of his football journey.
