Kentucky looks very not good at halftime vs. Georgetown

The team without three likely starters and two primary ball handlers looks totally out of sorts at halftime of an exhibition game. Shocker, right? That’s the unfortunate reality for Kentucky vs. Georgetown here at Rupp Arena, the Wildcats trailing by seven after giving up 46 points in the first 20 minutes.

UK is shooting 41.2 percent from three with seven different players making perimeter looks, but only 41.9 percent overall and a putrid 46.2 percent at the line with seven misses. Individually, Otega Oweh is leading the Cats with nine points (3-6 FG), followed by Mo Dioubate with seven (2-2 FG), Jasper Johnson (2-6 FG) and Brandon Garrison (2-4 FG) with five apiece, Collin Chandler (1-3 FG) and Trent Noah (1-5 FG) with four each, Malachi Moreno (1-1 3PT) with three and Andrija Jelavic (1-2 FG) with two. Kam Williams was the only player held scoreless at the break.

The offense was just okay, but the real issue was on the other end of the floor, allowing the Hoyas to shoot 56.3 percent from the field overall and 90 percent on layups (9-10) with 24 points in the paint. Georgetown hit just two 3-pointers in the first half (2-8 3PT), but converted on 66.7 percent of twos (16-24). Malik Mack leads all scorers with 14 points (6-9 FG), followed by Vince Iwuchukwu with seven and KJ Lewis and Julius Halaifonua with five apiece.

A week removed from dominating No. 1 Purdue in essentially every category, Kentucky is shooting worse, turning the ball over more, getting crushed inside and playing putrid defense. Other than that, though, things are going great for the Wildcats.

20 minutes to get it fixed, but up to this point, it looks like Kentucky desperately needs Jaland Lowe and Denzel Aberdeen back on the floor.
