Mother Nature sure is being difficult this week. After stormy weather forced Kentucky to move its rivalry game vs. Louisville from Tuesday to Wednesday, the forecast for this evening has UK officials playing it safe. UK just announced that tonight’s game vs. the Cardinals is postponed again to a to-be-determined date. The Kentucky Softball team also postponed its game tonight vs. Northern Kentucky due to the weather.

“Due to the forecast for inclement weather and with the health and safety of the players and fans in mind, tonight’s game has been postponed. No makeup date currently has been set.”

Per UK’s Ticket Office policy, in the case of a delay or cancellation, the ticket(s) issued for that game will be honored for the date of the makeup game or refunded if the makeup game is not played. Some exclusions apply.

According to The Weather Channel, showers are supposed to move into the Lexington area this afternoon and evening, with wind gusts up to 30 to 40 miles per hour. A few thunderstorms could be included in the system, although it’s not expected to be nearly as serious as yesterday’s event, which led to widespread damage in the Central Kentucky area and blew one UK student off her feet, a clip that has gone viral:

Because it’s Kentucky in the spring, the rain is expected to turn to snow overnight and then back to rain tomorrow during the day.

After yesterday, better safe than sorry. Hopefully, the game can be rescheduled. If not, we’ll have to settle for beating the Cards in their stadium on April 16. Thankfully, the forecast for this weekend’s series vs. No. 11 Alabama looks much better. The first of those three games is Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Kentucky Proud Park.
