HIGHLIGHTS: Kentucky's win over NC Central had plenty of fun moments
Kentucky got back in the win column vs. NC Central on a big night for Otega Oweh and Jasper Johnson. That, combined with Zach Tow’s three and Mark Pope’s sending a message to Brandon Garrison, Jaland Lowe, and Kam Williams, is about all you can take away from tonight’s performance at Rupp Arena. Nothing will really matter until we see how the Cats do vs. Indiana on Saturday.
That said, there were plenty of fun moments. As mentioned, Jasper and Oweh played well. Jasper finished with a career-high 22 points on 6-10 from the field and 8-8 from the free-throw line. Oweh scored a season-high 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds, looking as assertive as he has all year. Oweh’s dunks and Jasper and Trent Noah’s threes drew large pops from an otherwise quiet Rupp Arena crowd. Kentucky finished with 12 threes, which ties the Louisville game for the second most this season.
The feel-good moment of the night came with 32 seconds left, when Tow hit a three, his first field goal as a Kentucky Wildcat. Walker Horn did the same a few weeks ago vs. Tennessee Tech. This is Kentucky’s second-to-last game against “easier” non-conference foes, so it was fun to see Tow have his Rupp Arena moment.
