Kentucky not among D1 Baseball's latest Field of 64 Projections

Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament hopes could come down to what happens in the next couple of days (if the weather allows it, that is).
In an update on Thursday morning from D1 Baseball, members of the staff put together their latest Field of 64 Projections for the 2022 postseason. The Wildcats were not on the list of teams expected to make the tournament as it currently stands. They were not among the “First Four Out” group, either.
Two of the programs among the “Last Four In” group are from the SEC: Alabama and Ole Miss. The Crimson Tide has already won two conference tournament games against six-seeded Georgia and three-seeded Arkansas while the Rebels were bounced in the opening round against eight-seeded Vanderbilt.

Coming into the SEC Tournament, Kentucky was among the Next Four Out group, according to Baseball America. The ‘Cats knocked out the five-seeded Auburn Tigers in dramatic fashion on Wednesday to keep their postseason hopes alive. A win on Thursday against the four-seeded LSU Tigers could be enough to push the ‘Cats into the projected field. The third round is double-elimination, as well, so Kentucky will have two chances at adding a big win to its resume.
Kentucky is expected to take on LSU at 2:00 p.m. EST on the SEC Network, but poor weather conditions in Hoover, AL continue to cause delays. The first game of the day between Florida and Texas A&M has already been delayed.
