How about another unexpected connection between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Arkansas Razorbacks? This one won’t shake up the entire college basketball landscape like the last one, fortunately, but it certainly opens the door for the brother of a former Burger Boy who played in Fayetteville to land in Lexington under Mark Pope.

Remember Anthony Black, the former five-star guard out of Texas who played for Eric Musselman in 2022-23? He earned Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors after averaging 12.8 points and 5.1 rebounds as a one-and-done, selected by the Orlando Magic with the No. 6 overall pick in 2023.

Now, it’s his brother’s turn, Beckham Black receiving an offer from the Wildcats on Monday. Coach Pope met with the 6-2 shooting guard at his school, Southeastern Prep, to extend the scholarship in person, according to Jacob Polacheck of KSR+.

“(All glory to God). After a conversation with Coach Pope I’m happy to say I’ve received (an) offer from the University of Kentucky,” Black wrote on social media.

UK was in to watch several of Black’s games on the Nike EYBL circuit throughout the summer. He also made the 12-member Team USA roster in the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup back in June, starting in all six games en route to a gold medal where he averaged 6.7 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.3 steals per game.

Black is considered the nation’s No. 16 overall prospect and No. 4 shooting guard, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Virginia, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Mississippi State, SMU, USC and TCU.

What are his thoughts on Kentucky? It’s all about the tradition.

“I definitely know their history with point guards,” Black told KSR+. “They’ve had a pretty good history with point guards. They’re a blue-blood, of course.”

It’s the second offer of the day for Kentucky in the 2027 class, previously extending one to top-10 prospect Nasir Anderson on Monday. He’s considered the No. 1 point guard and the No. 7 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking
