2027 four-star guard Reese Alston had a memorable weekend at Kentucky. It culminated in him walking away with an offer.

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound point guard from Second Baptist (Houston, TX) earned an offer from Kentucky shortly after his visit for Big Blue Madness on Saturday, Oct. 11. Alston sat down with KSR+ to recap the trip.

“It was definitely a great event,” Alston said. “There were a lot of people showing love to the basketball team. It’s a great community. The campus is great.”

Alston was joined on his trip by 2027 top 10 prospect Dawson Battie. Battie also earned an offer on the trip.

“It was good going on a visit with someone with the same dreams as me,” Alston said. “We talked to the other recruits a little bit. I hung out with Dawson, and we did the visit together.

Recapping His Kentucky Visit

Reese Alston stepped on Kentucky’s campus for the first time over the weekend. It was a great time to do it, visiting for Big Blue Madness and witnessing John Wall’s return to Lexington.

“My impression was just how crazy it was,” Alston said. “It was loud and there were a lot of people. I knew John Wall was coming. It was crazy just how much they love him there.”

Alston said he’d “fit in great” in Mark Pope‘s system. During his visit, he saw a walkthrough practice session.

“I do a lot of the things that he wants from his players,” Alston said. “It was a normal practice, a walkthrough, since they had things earlier in the day. They still had great intensity. It was a high-energy practice.”

Alston said he liked to see the closeness of the Kentucky team. He said that “everyone felt welcomed.”

“Everyone knew everyone on the team,” Alston said. “Everyone had a bond, and they were close.”

Alston has already taken an unofficial visit to Wichita State. He’s set to visit Purdue in January.

“During these unofficial visits, I want to see how the school is, the atmosphere, and things like that,” he said.

Reese Alston’s Game

Houston (Texas) Second Baptist four-star point guard Reese Alston is the nation’s No. 22 overall prospect according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. Rivals ranks Alston as the No. 2 point guard and the No. 9 overall player in the 2027 class.

“I’m a real point guard who wants to win and get his teammates involved,” Alston said.

Alston is the son of former NBA point guard Rafer Alston. Rafer recently sat down with KSR+ for an interview about his son’s game.

“His greatest strength is his athleticism, his quick first step, and his ability to always be under control at all times,” Rafer said. “Whatever the defense is throwing at him, he’s always under control, and he’s not a kid who gets rattled. That’s the impressive part about him. To have that type of poise at that age is just tremendous.”
