Trey Pearson entered Peach Jam with very little high-major interest. The 2026 guard had several mid-major offers, but it took an excellent run with Brad Beal Elite to get on the high-major radar.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound point guard from Pope John Paul II (Nashville, TN) has even gotten on Kentucky’s radar. He told KSR+ that Kentucky assistant coach Alvin Brooks reached out on Tuesday.

“I would love to be in that blue jersey,” Pearson said. “[Alvin Brooks] really liked me down there at Peach Jam and was shocked by the offers I have. He was shocked that those were the only offers I had. He told me he’d keep in touch, and we’ll take it from there.”

Pearson watched Kentucky play a few times last season. He liked UK’s guard play.

“I know they’re definitely a good school if you want to go to the bigger level,” Pearson said. “They have the most kids who go pro. They make it to March Madness a lot and have a great fanbase. It’s a good, fun school. They were definitely entertaining. They had a good year, and it was definitely fun to watch.”

His Recruitment is Blowing Up

Since Peach Jam ended, Trey Pearson has seen his phone explode with new interest. He’s now hearing from the likes of Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Iowa, Michigan State, NC State, and Texas, among others.

“It’s been good,” he said. “I had a few high-majors text me to show interest. I don’t have any offers from high-majors yet.”

Pearson is hoping to take some visits in the fall. He hasn’t set any dates yet.

“We’re planning to take some, but we don’t have any specific dates or anything like that,” he said. “[I’m looking for] a good culture, a good brotherhood, a good fanbase, coaches who get along well with the players, and a good relationship with everyone.”

Trey Pearson’s Game

2026 point guard Trey Pearson of Pope John Paul II (TN) isn’t ranked by the Rivals Industry Ranking. 247Sports ranks Pearson as the No. 25 point guard in the nation.

“[My greatest strengths are] being a dog and playing defense at all times,” Pearson said. “I have fun, get my team involved, and make everybody around me better.”

Pearson said he showed off his defense and passing ability. It was enough to earn Brad Beal Elite its second consecutive Peach Jam title.

“It’s definitely wonderful. It’s shocking. We didn’t think we’d win it two years in a row, especially with only seven players. It was a crazy experience, and it was definitely fun,” Pearson said.
