Kentucky WBB receives commitment from WKU transfer Josie Gilvin

The wait is over — Kenny Brooks has reeled in his first acquisition of the offseason.
Sources tell KSR that Kentucky has received a commitment from Western Kentucky transfer guard Josie Gilvin.
Gilvin, a 6-foot rising senior, recently took a visit to Kentucky. She averaged 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game this past season at WKU, and maybe even more importantly, the Louisville native knocked down 41.3% of her three-point attempts as a junior.
Kenny Brooks and the staff got a look at her firsthand when the Cats took on the Lady Toppers in Historic Memorial Coliseum on December 28th. Gilvin had 10 points on 3-7 shooting in that game. In WKU’s final regular season game against Liberty, she posted 31 points as well as seven steals and six rebounds on 5-9 shooting from deep.

Gilvin adds much-needed depth to the backcourt. Whether she’ll be a projected starter or not remains to be seen. However, her physical frame and ability to knock it down from beyond the arc will certainly make her a valuable contributor on both ends of the floor.
