Kentucky Receives Their Report Card From The Vanderbilt Game

by:N. Jourdan09/28/14
report_card Ethan Levine of Saturday Down South sent out his assessment of UK's big SEC win over an inferior Vanderbilt squad, and it's mostly good news. The only glaring grade was given out to the offense, who received a "C" due to their shaky play yesterday:
"The Cats’ offense got plenty of players involved, but it was sloppy and lacked the explosiveness it displayed against Florida two weeks ago. Kentucky still has all the pieces to be dynamic in the Air Raid offense, but three turnovers and five penalties for 55 yards will hold even the best offenses back."
While the offense was lacking, the Defense more than made up for their miscues. In fact, the defense received an "A" that they very much well deserved:
" The Cats’ front seven overwhelmed Vanderbilt all day, limiting the ‘Dores to just 54 yards rushing at just 2.5 yards per carry while also recording four sacks for the game.... as a unit, the Cats defense made every play and carried Kentucky to a much-needed SEC victory in an ugly, low-scoring game in Lexington."
The special teams unit (who have a fantastic twitter accountreceived a "B+" on the day partially due to the superior leg of Austin MacGinnis:
"Austin MacGinnis continues to impress as the place kicker after he drilled a 44-yard field goal to extend Kentucky’s lead (he’s now made three kicks of 40 or more yards)."
I personally suggest reading the rest of Ethan's article below, which contains even more snippets about yesterday's victory. [SDS: Kentucky Report Card: Defense shines, offense struggles in win over Vandy]
