A pair of Kentucky commits (and several of John Calipari’s top uncommitted targets) were tabbed to the Naismith Trophy Boy’s High School Player of the Year Midseason Team that was announced on Thursday afternoon.

Class of 2024 Kentucky signees Boogie Fland and Jayden Quaintance were two of 25 high school boys’ basketball players to make the cut. Fland is a 6-foot-3 point guard ranked No. 22 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking while Quaintance is a 6-foot-10 center ranked No. 8 overall. Both players were on the Preseason Watch List that was announced back in November, which included 50 high schoolers at the time.

Fland and Quaintance were also named to the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit USA roster last week.

Suiting up for White Plains (NY) Archbishop Stepinac, Fland most recently shined at the Hoophall Classic last weekend. He posted 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal in a win over nationally ranked Don Bosco (NJ) Prep. Meanwhile, Quaintance is playing his senior season for Word of God Christian Academy in the Overtime Elite league. Most recently, he dropped 25 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks on Dec. 29 against the Cold Hearts.

While Fland and Quaintance are the only future Wildcats (as of right now) to make the midseason list, several other talented players with significant Kentucky connections made the top 25.

Among them are AJ Dybantsa (’25 SF), Cameron Boozer (’25 PF), Darryn Peterson (’25 SG), Koa Peat (’25 PF), and Caleb Wilson (’25 PF). All five have received scholarship offers from Kentucky. They also rank — in order — as the top five recruits in the entire 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

Kentucky is one of four schools on this midseason list with two commits locked in. Rutgers (Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey), Duke (Isaiah Evans, Cooper Flagg), and North Carolina (Ian Jackson, Drake Powell) also have two representatives.
