Things did not go well for the Kentucky defense the last time this unit took the field. The Wildcats played their worst game of the season against Eastern Michigan. That game included numerous coverage busts that led to a bunch of explosive plays. Defensive coordinator Brad White was not happy with how his group performed.

The bye week was used to address the poor performance, fix the problems, and to respond the next time this group takes the field.

“The message was that we didn’t play well enough. Is there good stuff on film? Absolutely. But it’s not about the good stuff — it’s the bad stuff that gets you beat. And trying to eliminate the bad plays, the bad moments. So that’s been the focus,” White said. “It’s not all gonna get corrected in one day. It’s a process in that regard. You try to put out those fires each and every day.”

Kentucky will look to respond against a South Carolina offense that is really struggling right now. The Cats will attempt to make sure those offensive struggles continue in Columbia. White and Kentucky players opened up on the challenge of playing LaNorris Sellers and what UK must do to leave Williams-Brice Stadium with win.
