Kentucky took part in its biggest home game of non-conference play on Tuesday when the Cats played host to the Purdue Boilermakers. This was part two of a home-and-home series, and after winning by 30 in West Lafayette last season, Kenny Brooks‘ squad was looking to bust out the brooms.

In front of the biggest crowd of the year in Historic Memorial Coliseum to this point, Kentucky got the win, beating Purdue 76-35.

Kentucky got off to a hot start offensively, shooting 9-17 (53%) from the field overall and 4-6 (67%) from three-point range. Clara Strack in particular was hot, coming out of the gate making three of her first five shots to tally seven early points to her name.

The junior center finished the game with 17 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks — another stellar outing for the future All-SEC selection.

Kentucky wasted no time putting this one to rest in front of one of the better crowds of the year —certainly the best student section of the year. At the half, the Cats were up 44-26. Jordan Obi had the hot hand as well, putting up 13 points in the first half alone. After scoring a team-high 17 points at Marshall, it’s clear that the 6-foot-1 guard is finding her stride and finding her spot in the offense.

The offense started to stall out a bit as the game went on, but again, the defense held strong. Clearly, defense will be this team’s specialty while the offense tends to go through hot and cold spells. Regardless, Kentucky is 6-0 on the year. Can’t complain about that at all.

It only gets tougher from here for Kentucky. For the first time this season in the their next game, the Cats will face a ranked team — the No. 21 Louisville Cardinals at the KFC Yum! Center. Kentucky won this game in overtime last season, and it would be a shocker if this game wasn’t super close again. Tipoff for that one is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
