The top-ranked player in the state of Kentucky is taking his talents across the Ohio River for his senior season. Today marks the first day many high school football teams will begin practice around Kentucky. William “Woo” Spencer will not be suiting up for Louisville Male High School. The top recruit in the state of Kentucky will play for New Albany High School in 2022.

Spencer is a four-star IOL prospect, ranked as one of the 25 bests in the country at his position according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the top-ranked player in the state of Kentucky before transferring to the Southern Indiana school.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound athlete was a part of three straight Class 6A state runner-up teams at Male. Spencer was in the trenches on both sides of the line of scrimmage, playing offensive guard and defensive tackle for the purple and gold Bulldogs. Now he’ll play for the red and black Bulldogs in Indiana.

Spencer is the second high-profile player to leave Male this offseason. Former Louisville cornerback commit Jeremiah Collins will play for Tennessee powerhouse Oakland High School in 2022. Collins is the No. 2 player from Kentucky in the On3 Consensus. Vince Marrow is the lead recruiter for each player.

Kentucky is currently the leader in the clubhouse for Spencer according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He recently made the trip to Lexington for a camp this summer. Spencer’s move is not unprecedented in the world of UK football recruiting. Spencer trains with Chris Vaughn, the owner and operator of Aspirations Gym. His most star-studded athlete from Louisville, Kiyaunta Goodwin, wrapped up his high school career in Southern Indiana at Charlestown High School before he signed with the Wildcats. History could repeat itself with Spencer this fall.
