Kentucky target Yaxel Lendeborg commits to Michigan

UAB star Yaxel Lendeborg, arguably the best prospect in the transfer portal and Kentucky’s top target, has committed to Michigan.
The standout forward committed to Dusty May and the Wolverines over Auburn and Kentucky with the intention of finding a guaranteed contract in the NBA Draft.
If not, he’s on his way to Ann Arbor.
“I love the culture Dusty May has brought to every team that he’s coached,” Lendeborg told ESPN. “When I first started watching college basketball, it was FAU.”
Lendeborg is currently projected as a late first-round pick, ranked No. 28 in the latest draft update by ESPN. Thoroughly testing the waters, if he can avoid a two-way deal and the G League, he’ll keep his name in. Until then, though, his home is in Michigan — taking one prime target for Kentucky off the board.

“I’m focused on the draft process and making the NBA right now,” Lendeborg continued. “I want a guaranteed contract. That’s the biggest thing. Make sure I am in a good spot. I would prefer to play college basketball in Ann Arbor than be in and out of the G League on a two-way. I want to find a safe spot.”
Lendeborg averaged 17.9 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.6 steals per contest this past season, shooting 55 percent from two and 35 percent from three.
