LIVE BLOG: Kentucky vs. Tennessee Tech

On3 imageby: KSR20 hours ago

Kentucky has one more tune-up before facing two top-15 teams next week. KSR’s LIVE BLOG will bring you all the sights and sounds from Rupp Arena as Kentucky hosts John Pelphrey’s Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (7 p.m. ET, SEC Network).

Kentucky is 4-2 this season, coming off a 42-point win over Loyola Maryland on Friday. Tonight, the Cats will likely be without Jaland Lowe (shoulder) and Mo Dioubate (ankle). It shouldn’t matter too much against the Golden Eagles, who are 3-3 with losses to Western Kentucky, Charlotte, and West Georgia, and are ranked No. 322 in KenPom. Regardless, it’s a good opportunity for Mark Pope to tinker with some more lineups and the Cats to build some momentum before a big week.

Refresh the feed below for updates and KSR’s takes on the game from Rupp Arena. You can also join the conversation on the KSBoard Game Thread.

FINAL: Kentucky 104, Tennessee Tech 54

11/26/2025 07:47:04 PM

There’s the 50-point win we wanted. More coming all night.

3:49 2H – Kentucky 89, Tennessee Tech 46

11/26/2025 07:36:31 PM

Kentucky was just 3-13 from three-point range in the first half. In the second half, the Cats have made 8-13 threes. Denzel Aberdeen has four of those. Not too shabby.

Kentucky’s on a 13-2 run. Five players are in double figures so far: Aberdeen, Oweh, Chandler, Moreno, and Noah.

Tom Hart and Dane Bradshaw’s Thanksgiving favorites

11/26/2025 07:33:28 PM

The SEC Network broadcasting crew just shared their starting five of Thanksgiving foods. Shoutout to Dane Bradshaw for the honesty of putting a Bloody Mary in his starting lineup.

7:34 2H – Kentucky 76, Tennessee Tech 44

11/26/2025 07:29:12 PM

Trent Noah just missed his first three of the night, but Kentucky’s still firmly in control, leading by 32. The Cats’ last bucket was this tip-in dunk by Malachi Moreno. He’s got 11 points and 11 rebounds in just 21 minutes, the second double-double of his career.

Jasper with the shifts

11/26/2025 07:25:58 PM

Jasper Johnson just checked out, but not before this nifty move. The freshman has six points and three assists so far.

An Unforgettable Y

11/26/2025 07:15:23 PM

With John Pelphrey on the sideline, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the rest of the Unforgettables, Sean Woods, Deron Feldhaus, and Richie Farmer, teamed up for a group Y.

15:00 2H – Kentucky 60, Tennessee Tech 35

11/26/2025 07:13:07 PM

This crowd was getting a little sleepy, but Otega Oweh woke them up with this dunk, which was part of a 9-0 Kentucky run. Seven of those points were scored by him. Cats are cruising.

8-0 run to start the 2nd half

11/26/2025 07:03:50 PM

Kentucky’s off to a good start in the second half, going on an 8-0 run over the first 1:13, which prompted John Pelphrey to call a timeout. Said run included threes by Collin Chandler and Denzel Aberdeen and a dunk by Otega Oweh, which prompted a spirited “Oweh Oweh Oweh Oweh” chant in the crowd.

18:27 2H – Kentucky 51, Tennessee Tech 30

HALFTIME: Kentucky 43, Tennessee Tech 28

11/26/2025 07:03:37 PM

After the worst start imaginable, the Wildcats finally figured out how to play basketball in the final seven minutes, going on a 20-3 run while scoring eight of their last 10 field goals down the stretch. The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, missed 10 of their last 11 and are now shooting 34.3 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from three.

Kentucky is now up to 50.0 percent overall and 23.1 percent from deep after the abysmal start.

Trent Noah (!!!!) leads all scorers with 10 points and five rebounds on a perfect 3-3 shooting, followed by Collin Chandler with nine points, Malachi Moreno with six points and eight rebounds, Denzel Aberdeen, Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison with four points and Jasper Johnson, Andrija Jelavic and Kam Williams with two.

Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up

11/26/2025 06:42:04 PM

Kentucky has made seven of its last eight field goals and is currently on an 18-1 run to take a 41-26 lead with 1:28 to go in the first half. They’re playing like a totally different team from the one that couldn’t get out of its own way for the first quarter-plus of the game.

And it all started when I went to go get Chick-fil-A.

This may be my last Live Blog, folks. The Wildcats are better without me.

I go to get Chick-fil-A and the Cats go on a run

11/26/2025 06:39:27 PM

Kentucky is now on a 12-1 run over the last 3:39 with four straight buckets. The ironic part? I was in the Chick-fil-A line during that run. Maybe I just need to go home for the greater good of this program. Maybe I need to stop doing this job at all?

Anyway, Kentucky now leads 35-26.

And now UK WBB has gone down

11/26/2025 06:24:09 PM

This night is not going well. The men’s team is stinking up the joint, and now, the women’s team has fallen 74-66 to Maryland in Puerto Rico.

The Terrapins are undefeated and ranked No. 7 nationally, so it’s not totally embarrassing, but it’s certainly not what you want to see entering the Thanksgiving holiday.

Please do not do the same, MBB. We cannot have those hard conversations around the dinner table tomorrow night.

10:13 1H: Kentucky 19, Tennessee Tech 18

11/26/2025 06:21:23 PM

So, this isn’t going as planned.

The team is shooting just 35.0 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from three. The Golden Eagles are knocking down 44.4 percent of their attempts. It’s a one-point game (and TTU was just leading, to drive the point home even further).

What is happening?

LOOK OUT BELOW, COLLIN CHANDLER

11/26/2025 06:14:00 PM

The kid won’t stop putting opponents on posters. Coming off the right corner, Collin Chandler went baseline for the filthy slam — his second on-his-head finish of the year.

Take a look at this beauty:

So… Tennessee Tech leads after five minutes

11/26/2025 06:09:41 PM

The first 5:40 has not been kind to Kentucky, with the Wildcats off to a rough 4-11 start (36.4%) and 0-4 from three with nobody scoring more than a single bucket.

On the other end, Tennessee Tech is 5-9 (55.6%) to get things rolling while forcing three early turnovers.

Need something to get these guys going.

First off the bench: Jasper Johnson

11/26/2025 06:07:29 PM

With 16:35 to go in the first half, Mark Pope has made his first substitution — and it was just one replacement compared to the hockey sub we’re used to seeing. Jasper Johnson replaced Denzel Aberdeen and immediately threw a lob to Otega Oweh.

Maybe that’s the spark they need?

Of all the starts, this is certainly one of them

11/26/2025 06:04:07 PM

Tennessee Tech is one of the worst teams on the schedule for Kentucky. It has not looked that way to start this one, the Golden Eagles leading 4-2 two minutes in before the Wildcats tied it up at 4-4 with 17:32 to go in the first half. They’re just 2-6 to start, good for 33.3 percent, and 0-2 from three.

Sloppy start for the good guys.

Starting Lineups

11/26/2025 05:47:08 PM

Greetings from Rupp

11/26/2025 05:15:24 PM

Hello from Rupp Arena, where we’re about 40 minutes from tipoff and the crowd is slowly trickling in. I hear traffic is bad (we must have gotten lucky), and that the Tennessee Tech team bus even got stuck in the snarl. They are here now, so soon, basketball action will be upon us.

An Unforgettable Wildcat Wrap-Up?

11/26/2025 02:27:35 PM

John Pelphrey told Mark Story that Deron Feldhaus and Sean Woods talked him into coming back to Rupp to play Kentucky, but only with the condition that they handle his postgame press conference. It sounds like we’ve got some even better on the way. The UK Sports Network teased a Wildcat Wrap-Up with Pelphrey, Feldhaus, Woods, and Richie Farmer. That should be awesome.
