Another deep postseason run for the Kentucky men’s tennis team came to an unfortunate end on Thursday evening. No. 5 Kentucky saw their season end in the Elite Eight against No. 4 TCU in the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships.

Two years ago, we saw the Wildcats finish the 2022 season as the national runner-up, but this year Kentucky will unfortunately not be bringing the national championship hardware back to Lexington. The Horned Frogs were able to handle the two-time defending SEC champions on the campus of Oklahoma State.

Cedric Kauffmann’s program will now close the book on the 2024 season having made three consecutive tennis Elite Eights. This spring, the Wildcats swept through the SEC’s regular season and conference tournament before hosting the first three NCAA tournament rounds in Lexington. The Wildcats took care of DePaul, Illinois, and No. 12 Harvard at home to run their match winning streak up to 20. Kentucky was unable to reach consecutive win No. 21 on Thursday.

Kentucky knocked off TCU in the 2022 NCAA Championships (4-3) in the quarterfinals before losing to the Horned Frogs (4-2) in the 2023 Indoor Championships. The Big 12 program took home the rubber match.

Kentucky’s campaign finishes at 27-3. A champion will be crowned this weekend in Stillwater as No. 1 Ohio State and No. 4 TCU both advanced to the semifinals on Thursday.
