Transfer Portal Latest - April 18, 2024

It’s all about quality over quantity during the spring transfer portal window. Kentucky filled its most significant roster holes in December, but there are still a few to plug. Cornerback is a position of need this cycle and the Wildcats have at least one target in their sights.

On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports former Florida State cornerback Greedy Vance has scheduled a visit to Kentucky for April 26-28. In addition to the trip to Kentucky, Vance will officially visit USC April 18-21.

Those aren’t the only schools interested in his services. He’s received scholarship offers from Alabama, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Houston, Miami, and Arkansas, among others.

There’s a reason why so many schools are interested. Vance is the fourth-best available cornerback on the market, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings.

If the name sounds familiar it’s because he started his career at the University of Louisville. A three-star prospect from New Orleans in the 2020 recruiting class, he started in nine of 12 games, recording 36 tackles and seven pass breakups during his redshirt freshman season. Vance wisely left Scott Satterfield’s program after two seasons. He transferred to Florida State in 2022 and appeared in every game for the Seminoles over the last two seasons. In his first season, he picked off three passes, the third-most interceptions in the ACC.

A 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete, last season he primarily defended slot receivers for a Florida State team that completed an undefeated regular season with a win over Louisville in the ACC Championship Game.

Jantzen Dunn, a former Ohio State Buckeye, emerged during Kentucky spring practice, albeit at the same position Vance plays. Nevertheless, the Kentucky pass defense needs some help after finishing 11th in the SEC last season. The former Florida State Seminole could be a valuable asset for the Cats if Kentucky can reel in a commitment.
