Lorenzo Cowan has an official visit scheduled to Kentucky for this weekend. There’s a non-zero chance he leaves Lexington committed to the Wildcats.

Cowan is a class of 2024 three-star EDGE product out of Savannah (GA) Jenkins. The high school senior checks in at an impressive 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, and is considered the No. 1,115 overall prospect in the class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Cowan holds over a dozen Division I scholarship offers, but he’s only taking official visits to a few of those schools. He’s already been to West Virginia and South Florida back in June. He’ll spend his third (and likely last) OV on UK beginning this Friday.

As things currently stand, Kentucky is trending heavily as the favorite to land Cowan’s services. Since Tuesday night, predictions have been rolling in projecting Cowan to the Wildcats. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives UK a 91.6 percent chance to lock him down, with the expectation that this weekend’s official visit will seal the deal. On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons hinted at the possibility of UK adding Cowan on KSBoard Tuesday night.

Of note, Cowan is the younger brother of current Kentucky freshman DL Tavion Gadson. Cowan joined Gadson when the latter was on his OV to UK not long ago. The Wildcats were also just the second program to extend Cowan a scholarship, which came back in May 2022. More importantly, he announced a written scholarship offer from the ‘Cats through Instagram on August 1. Defensive backs coach Chris Collins has been leading the charge.

On Wednesday, Ryan Wright of Recruiting News Guru reported that Cowan will make his college decision this Sunday, which would be the final day of his official visit to Kentucky. If that timeline holds firm, UK should consider itself the frontrunner heading down the final stretch.

Playing varsity since he was a sophomore at Jenkins, Cowan is coming off a junior season that saw him appear in 10 games and record 31 total tackles (23 solo, six for loss) with eight sacks and nine quarterback hurries. He also knocked down two passes and even blocked a field goal.

So far this season, Jenkins is 1-2, although stats have only been logged for the team’s first two games. In those outings, Cowan has registered nine total tackles (six solo, one for loss) with one sack, three hurries, two pass deflections, and one blocked field goal.

Kentucky currently has 16 commits on board in the class of 2024, including one other EDGE prospect in three-star Caleb Redd. The staff is also recruiting a pair of four-star EDGE recruits in Brian Robinson and Michigan commit Jacob Smith, but Cowan could be next join the fold.
