What the first half of Kentucky vs. Nicholls lacked in highlights, it made up for it in the second. Collin Chandler‘s dunk with five minutes to go is far and away the best highlight of the night.

After hitting back-to-back threes, the two-time champion of the Big Blue Madness dunk contest took flight to push Kentucky’s lead to 32, the largest of the night. It was one of eight dunks for the Cats tonight, and the exclamation point on a strong second-half performance. And thank goodness for that, because the first half was brutal. Kentucky shot just 32.2% from the field and 12.5% from three-point range before halftime, before bouncing back to shoot 61.3% from the field and 45.5% from three in the second half.

A big reason Kentucky looked better in the second half? Denzel Aberdeen. Aberdeen played 20 minutes total tonight as he works his way back from a minor leg injury. Fifteen of those were in the second half, as he battled foul trouble in the first. He finished with 10 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds, with a plus/minus efficiency of +20, which ties Mo Dioubate for a team-high. With Aberdeen running the show, the Cats just looked better, especially Chandler, who thrived at his normal spot.

Enjoy all the good parts of the 77-51 win below and none of the bad.
