Kentucky vs. Western Kentucky baseball game moved up due to weather

Who’s ready for some afternoon baseball? Storms are expected to roll into the Bluegrass tonight, so the start time of Kentucky Baseball’s game at Western Kentucky has been moved up. First pitch will now take place at 3 p.m. CT/4 p.m. ET at Nick Denes Field in Bowling Green.
This is Kentucky’s first trip to Western Kentucky since 2023, when the No. 16 Cats fended off a pesky Hilltoppers squad 10-8. WKU could give the Cats another scare tonight. The Hilltoppers are 34-10 this season and were ranked nationally before being swept at Florida International this past weekend. This is expected to be Kentucky’s toughest midweek game of the season.

The Cats (25-16, 10-11 Southeastern Conference) are riding some momentum to Bowling Green. Kentucky has won six of its last eight games, a span that included series victories vs. Tennessee and South Carolina and a run-rule win over a top 20 Louisville team last week. The Cats are currently projected to be a No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Region in On3’s latest NCAA Tournament Field of 64 Projections. This weekend, they head to Starkville to play a Mississippi State squad that just fired its head coach, Chris Lemonis. Nick Mingione, who spent seven seasons as an assistant coach on the Bulldogs’ staff, is already being mentioned as a potential candidate.
First up: Western Kentucky. This afternoon’s game is sold out in Bowling Green, with WKU calling for a Red Out. The Hilltoppers are 25-1 at home this season. Kentucky leads the all-time series 41-29 and has won four of the last five, with Western’s last win coming in 2022 in Lexington.
