Step aside, Bert Kreischer. There’s a new Machine in town. The Kentucky offense exploded for 117 points in Saturday’s victory over Alabama, the most ever by a UK team against a ranked opponent. After the win Matt Jones celebrated on the KSR Postgame Show.

“To me, the most interesting way to look at this game is Alabama shot 57% from the field and was never in the game after the first eight or ten minutes. You shoot 57%, you probably think you’re going to win and they lost by 22 points. At one point they were shooting 54% and down 35,” Jones said.

“Kentucky absolutely offensively was a machine.”

It was a joyful experience for the Big Blue Nation. Justin Edwards broke through with a perfect 10 for 10 shooting night, becoming just the third player in school history with a perfect night on 10+ field goal attempts. His 28-point performance was jaw-dropping on Saturday. More importantly, it showed a different way Kentucky can play down the stretch. If he’s scoring from the four-spot, “You can’t guard ’em.”

“My biggest takeaway from tonight is when Kentucky plays this style that you just saw, it’s better than anyone in the country right now,” said Jones.

“You can make a strong argument that the three best-running offensive teams are Alabama, Kentucky, and North Carolina. And Kentucky has now beaten both of those other teams. If you get in the tournament and you get against a team that likes to play like that, I like Kentucky’s chances a lot because they kind of out-Alabama’d Alabama today.”
