On Monday, Virginia Tech transfer Georgia Amoore signed with Kentucky women’s basketball. A day later, one of Amoore’s former teammates did the same and will follow her to Lexington.

On Tuesday, 6-foot-5 freshman center Clara Strack was also announced by Kentucky as a signee for the upcoming 2024-25 season. It was a full week ago that Strack entered her name into the transfer portal and five days ago that she publicly announced her commitment to UK.

“I’m very excited to add Clara to our roster at Kentucky,” New head coach Kenny Brooks, who came over from Virginia Tech, said in UK’s press release. “She had a very productive freshman year, capped off with a tremendous postseason showing. She demonstrated her potential after playing behind an All-American for a full year, and I believe she’s going to be a fantastic addition to BBN.”

Strack, a native of New York, will have three years of eligibility remaining.

During her freshman campaign at Virginia Tech under Brooks in 2023-24, Strack averaged 4.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per outing. However, she stepped up in a major way once All-American center Elizabeth Kitley went down with an injury right before the NCAA Tournament. Strack posted 17 points (7-7 FG), five rebounds, and four blocks in 28 minutes in a win over Marshall then 18 points (6-8 FG), 10 rebounds, and two blocks in a loss to Baylor.

Out of Hamburg High School in Buffalo, Strack was considered a four-star prospect and top 100 recruit from the class of 2023, per ESPN.

Along with Amoore, Strack will be joined by a pair of players with connections to Brooks. JUCO transfer Amelia Hassett and four-star high school senior Lexi Blue have also flipped from VT to Kentucky. Another incoming freshman, 6-foot-6 Portugal native Clara Silva, is a name linked as a possible addition to Brooks’ first recruiting class with the Wildcats.

In terms of players officially on the 2024-25 roster, Strack, Amoore, Saniah Tyler, and Cassidy Rowe are the only ones currently locked in. After Amiya Jenkins entered her name into the portal on Tuesday, nine Wildcats from the 2023-24 roster have now elected to transfer.

Following the decommitment of Ramiya White (who chose Kentucky under former head coach Kyra Elzy), Brooks still has one incoming freshman from the old regime on board, 6-foot-1 guard Tanah Becker.
