The 2025-26 Kentucky women’s basketball team will start the season ranked inside the Top 25. The voters in the USA Today Coaches Poll are a little bit kinder than AP voters.

Kentucky was ranked No. 24 in the media poll. The Wildcats are four spots higher in the Coaches Poll at No. 20.

During Kenny Brooks’ first season, the Wildcats rose as high as No. 8 in the country. Even though Georgia Amoore moved on to the WNBA, Kentucky is still huge inside, returning 46.7 percent of its scoring and 70.9 percent of its rebounding in the frontcourt.

Forwards Clara Strack and Teonni Key each earned Second-Team Preseason All-SEC nods. The two combined to average 4.1 blocks per game last season. Strack was second in the SEC in rebounding with 9.7 per game and tallied 15.4 points per contest. Key added 11.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Kentucky has two non-conference opponents in the Preseason Top 25. They’ll travel to No. 20 Louisville on Nov. 22 and play No. 10 Maryland during a Feast Week tournament in Puerto Rico. The Wildcats are one of eight SEC teams in the Top 25. Kentucky opens SEC play on New Year’s Day, traveling to Baton Rouge to take on Kim Mulkey’s fifth-ranked LSU.
