Kentucky WBB drops to No. 19 following two-game losing streak

Back-to-back losses for Kentucky Women’s Basketball (6-3) have the program trending in the wrong direction. On Monday afternoon, the Wildcats dropped five spots in the updated AP and Coaches Polls, falling from No. 14 to No. 19.
Kentucky played two games last week, first losing to the DePaul Blue Demons in a high-scoring affair, 94-85, inside of Rupp Arena. UK actually brought back former head coach Matthew Mitchell for that outing in order to honor his successful 13-year run. Unfortunately, the outcome did not favor the ‘Cats.
A few days later, Kentucky fell once again, this time to the No. 7 Louisville Cardinals up at the KFC Yum! Center, 64-58. The Cards played UK to yet another rival bout that came down to the wire. But once again, Kentucky couldn’t find a way to pull out of the victory. UL has now beaten the ‘Cats five consecutive times.
As a result of the pair of losses, the voters moved a now 6-3 Wildcat squad down to No. 19. Louisville moved up to No. 6 in the AP Poll and No. 4 in the Coaches Poll while DePaul jumped into the receiving votes category.

Kentucky will have an excellent shot to bounce back in the coming games though. UK will head back to Memorial Coliseum where it’ll play host to Morgan State and South Carolina-Upstate before the SEC schedule kicks in. Those games will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., respectively.
