When Kenny Brooks was hired at Kentucky, it was largely seen as a home run hire. He had a premier resume coming in, highlighted by a Final Four birth at Virginia Tech in 2023. Of course, something that helped Brooks in winning is the talent that he has had on his teams.

One big piece of that talent was Georgia Amoore.

At Virginia Tech last season, Amoore had a career-best year. She averaged 18.8 points per game and her 6.8 assists per game ranked fourth in the nation. Despite being just 5-foot-6, Amoore has found ways to be a huge factor offensively.

She was named a Third Team AP All-American in 2023-24 and was selected as All-ACC for the second straight season. On top of that, Amoore was the 2023 ACC Tournament MVP. She comes to Kentucky with a lot on her resume, to say the least.

That is why 247Sports has ranked Amoore as the top player to enter the transfer portal in women’s basketball this offseason.

There are many talented players in the portal, including nine Kentucky Wildcats from the 2023-24 roster. However, Amoore sits atop the mountain. The best part is that not only was Amoore the best transfer on the market, but it’s not even close.

Take Grace VanSlooten for example, the No. 2 player on 247Sports’ list. VanSlooten averaged 15.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore this season. Of course, that’s not bad at all (in fact, that’s really, really good), but when you account that she was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, that doesn’t quite stack up to an All-American and a two-time all-conference player like Georgia Amoore.

Even though it may have been a “gimme” that Amoore would transfer to Kentucky, considering that Kenny Brooks is a father figure to her, landing her is still a big-time get nonetheless.
