Kentucky Weekend Recruiting Rundown: 10/9-10/11

  Michael Chandler, a 6-foot-10 center from Indiana, has a top four. Kentucky is in the mix for the former Louisville pledge, along with Indiana, Providence and West Virginia. The senior decommited from Louisville due to academic issues that he wanted to focus on. Some people, however, believe that he will not qualify to play next season due to his grades. Chandler visited West Virginia over the weekend. It was not determined whether the visit was official or unofficial. The star big man has intentions of attending Providence's Midnight Madness next weekend in Rhode Island. While Kentucky may still have a possible scholarship open in the spring, they will most likely use it on shooting guard Trevor Lacey of Alabama. Rodney Purvis, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from North Carolina, took an unofficial visit over the weekend. Purvis left his home state of North Carolina and headed to the state of Ohio, where he visited Xavier unofficially. Purvis enjoyed his visit to the A-10 school and is very close with Dezmine Wells, a 2011 commit. The sophomore sensation, who visited Duke unofficially the week before, plans to attend Midnight Madness at the Durham campus next weekend. While he has not visited Kentucky yet, it is certain that he will visit the school sooner or later. Kyle Anderson, a 6-foot-8 forward from New Jersey, has setup a fair amount of unofficial visits. The only thing is, none of those visits will be in Lexington. Anderson will visit Georgetown for Midnight Madness on October 15th with Daniel Ochefu, Rodney Hood and Sim Bhullar. The following day, the junior star will head to Massachusetts for an unofficial visit to UMass, Calipari's old stopping ground. The weekend after that, October 22nd, Anderson heads to Philadelphia for a visit to Villanova. He wraps up the visits two weekends after that as he hits Xavier for a visit on November 6th. Trevor Lacey, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Alabama, is very likely to be the next Kentucky commitment. If a scholarship opens up in the spring of 2011, except Lacey to sign on with the Wildcats as the final member of their 2011 class. Now that Auburn has landed former Florida International commit Cedrick McAfee, a shooting guard, they are likely out of the race for Lacey. While most believed Lacey would either choose Auburn or Kentucky, Trevor is Kentucky's to lose. This all depends if Kentucky has a scholarship open in the spring. As of now, it appears that the only recruits making it to Kentucky's Midnight Madness on October 15th are the four 2011 commitments.
