Kentucky Weekend Recruiting Rundown: 8/14-8/16

Kyle Wiltjer, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Oregon, narrowed his list down to seven schools. While he eliminated several local schools recruiting him, Wiltjer decided that location would not be a major factor. As Kentuky made the list, the Wildcats joined Georgia Tech, California, Kansas, Gonzaga, Texas and Wake Forest. The rising senior has an offer from Kentucky but how seriously will he consider them now with the commitment of Anthony Davis. While Kyle is very versatile, it seems unlikely that he would land in Lexington. Speaking of Davis, news was officially released that the Chicago power forward committed to Kentucky. A top five player in the class of 2011, Anthony joins Marquis Teague and Michael Gilchrist in an elite group that has some people wondering just how good the Cats can be. With the third commitment out of the way, rumors are still swirling around that Seattle native Tony Wroten could be the next piece in the puzzle for Coach Cal and company. Kadeem Jack, a 6-foot-8 power forward from New York, cut his list to four schools and Kentucky did not make it. Despite the fact that the school was not recruiting him as much as they were during the spring, they were still in contention. While Big Blue did not make his official list leading up to the cut, he still believed that they were interested. Jack, who will do a postgrad year at South Kent in Connecticut, is down to Arkansas, Rutgers, Miami and West Virginia. Jabari Brown, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from California, and a teammate of Wiltjer's of the AAU circuit, also narrowed his list down to seven schools. Kentucky, who was showing interest, but did not offer, was cut from the list. The schools which remaining are St. John's, California, UConn, Washington, Georgia Tech, Oregon and DePaul. Adonis Thomas, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Tennessee, announced that he will publicly cut his list at the Boost Mobile Elite game in Venice Beach next week. Thomas did not say how many schools will remain on his list. With schools like Florida, Duke, Memphis, Arkansas, UCLA, Tennessee and multiple others recruiting him hard, Memphis seems to be the favorite at this point. Kentucky has reportedly offered him. LeBryan Nash, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Texas, remains wide open at this point despite favoring Baylor at points in his recruitment. Nash plans to cut his list down to five schools by the end of August and hopes to announce in October. While Kentucky is involved with him, it does not appear that they will land him with Michael Gilchrist already there. Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma State, St. John's and others are after the rising senior.
