Kentucky Weekly Recruiting Rundown: 10/19-10/22

Adjehi Baru, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Virginia, is the newest Kentucky target... sort of. To the surprise of many, the Wildcats staff is still looking at players from the class of 2011 outside of Trevor Lacey. Rumors surfaced this week that Baru had picked up an offer from Kentucky but a source close to the situation tells me it's not true. The source tells me that they are not looking at Adjehi just yet, but they will be evaluating him in the next few weeks. Despite being considered by some as a lock to Maryland, Baru is also looking at North Carolina, Virginia Tech and College of Charleston. It seems highly unlikely that the Cats will offer Baru. As of now, he will just be another prospect that they evaluate. Sim Bhullar, a 7-foot-4 center, and his brother, Tanveer Bhular, a 7-foot-2 center, from Canada, had a special guest at a recent workout. Kentucky assistant coach Orlando Antigua was back on the recruiting trail as he traveled to Pennsylvania to watch the two brother's workout. Sim, a junior, and Tanveer, a sophomore, have become two big names on the circuit. While they attend prep school in Pittsburgh, the two live in Canada and are originally from India. Sim is being recruited by Indiana, Pittsburgh, Penn State, West Virginia, Georgetown, Cincinnati, Washington State and many others. Tanveer, on the other hand, is very raw compared to his brother. He is being recruited by similar schools but does not have any offers yet, contrary to his older brother. The dynamic duo have visited Georgetown, West Virginia and Pittsburgh this fall. They could change the game of basketball because of their size. Michael Chandler, a 6-foot-10 center from Indiana, is no longer looking at Kentucky. Actually, Kentucky is no longer looking at Chandler. While he was never considered a lock to go to Lexington, or even visit, the school was in his top four. Michael took an official visit to Providence last weekend. He will now stay in-state this weekend and take a visit to Indiana. Chandler, a former Louisville commit, still has questions about his grades and whether he will qualify or not. Xavier is another school who became involved recently. Rodney Purvis, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from North Carolina, came off a few visits and has picked up a new offer. After visiting Duke unofficially two of the last three weekends, along with Xavier the other weekend, Purvis is out in California for a basketball camp. North Carolina State offered him a scholarship this week. Rodney recently reclassifed into the class of 2012. Kyle Anderson, a 6-foot-8 point forward from New Jersey, has been taking tons of visits. Last weekend, Anderson visited Coach Calipari's old stopping grounds, UMass. This weekend he will attend Villanova's version of Midnight Madness with some local stars from the tri-state area. Two weekends later, Kyle will head to Xavier. Nurideen Lindsey, a 6-foot-3 guard from Oklahoma, has committed to St. John's. Lindsey was looking at Kentucky, Auburn, Oklahoma State and St. John’s but ultimately picked the Johnny's after visiting the school for Midnight Madness. Quincy Miller, a 6-foot-9 forward from North Carolina, has committed to Baylor. Miller was being recruited by Kentucky early on in the process until they picked up both Anthony Davis and Kyle Wiltjer. Quincy picked the Big 12 school over Louisville. Deuce Bello, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from North Carolina, has also committed to Baylor in a package deal with Miller. While Kentucky's interest was not that high on Deuce, they were still looking at him. LeBryan Nash, a 6-foot-7 forward from Texas, has committed to Oklahoma State. Nash never had an offer from the Wildcats but had drawn a fair amount of interest until they picked up commitments from Michael Gilchrist, Anthony Davis and Kyle Wiltjer.
