Kentucky Weekly Recruiting Rundown: 9/21-9/24

Shabazz Muhammad, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Nevada, has picked up his biggest offer thus far. Kentucky finally extended a scholarship to the standout 2012 player. While Coach Calipari and staff were watching a few of his workouts, the staff decided to offer Muhammad after one. He is currently being recruited by Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, Arizona and a wide array of others. Considered as the top guard in the class of 2012, if not the best, Shabazz has not gotten to far into the recruiting process yet. The Wildcats certainly made his day, though. Andre Drummond, a 6-foot-11 center from Connecticut, was recently visited by Coach John Calipari. Calipari checked out Drummond's high school workout. While Andre has an offer from the Wildcats, he has still not made a list of schools he is considering. At this point, the top big man in 2012, is being pursued by UConn, North Carolina, Georgetown, West Virginia, Kentucky and a few others. While Andre is essentially in the class of 2011, his coaches and family have decided that he will do a postgraduate year and be in college by 2012. Tony Wroten, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Washington, appears to be down to three schools. While Washington and Louisville are the primary candidates to land Wroten, Kentucky is still in the mix. Although it is not clear whether or not Tony has an offer from the Wildcats, the Cardinals or Huskies will most likely land him. Wroten, who will announce his college decision on October 7th, took an unofficial visit to Washington last weekend. This week, he had an in-home visit with Louisville coach Rick Pitino. This weekend, Tony heads to Louisville for an official visit. Brandon Ashley, a 6-foot-8 power forward from California, has seen his stock rise plenty. Coach John Calipari watched Ashley workout recently and Ashley is fond of the program. While he is still wide open, Brandon would definetly consider playing at Kentucky. He currently possesses offers from Arizona, Kentucky, California, Stanford, Arizona, Washington, Kansas, UCLA, Texas and others. Trevor Lacey, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Alabama, could be the last piece of the puzzle for Kentucky's 2011 class. Rivals.com recruiting analysis, Jerry Meyer, believes that the Cats are going to recruit Lacey hard over the next few weeks and try to come up with a fifth top twenty five commit.
